Recreation

Mount Merrion is one of Dublin’s most exclusive and mature residential areas, charcterised by low density suburban dwellings with a very settled community feel. Key amenities on the doorstep include Deerpark, a 32-acre public parkland owned and maintained by Dun-Laoghaire Rathdown County Council. Mount Merrion and the location of the development from its elevated position enjoys some of Dublins best elevated views, with a magnificent panoramic vista of Dublin Bay on one side and the Dublin mountains on the other. Its woods contain some of the trees planted in the eighteenth century by Viscount Richard FitzWilliam, who created the original deer park there.

Shops and Restaurants

Mount Merrion is an exclusive residential district served by its own small shops, post office, churches and restaurants, including the Union Café, Michael’s restaurant and The Merrion Tree.

On its doorstep is some of the best shopping and dining that Dublin can offer. Stillorgan, home to Ireland’s first shopping centre, still retains much of its old village atmosphere and is home to a number of top restaurants. The Stillorgan Village Centre, approximately 1km south of Thornhill Oaks, provides more than 45 national and international shops, restaurants and services. And if Stillorgan had the first shopping centre, nearby Dundrum now has the most celebrated and the largest in the country, with a vast selection of stores, restaurants and a multi-screen cinema. Dublin city centre is just 15 minutes away on the DART.
